Andrew began his career as a Set Dresser and Prop in the NYC Motion Picture Industry throughout the 1990’s. He transitioned into the Medical Device Industry in 1998, where he has since become an innovator, entrepreneur, consultant, and educator. His research areas include clubfoot bracing, biomechanics, and imaging. At the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, Andrew is Assistant Professor of the Practice and Director of Industry Relations. He teaches courses in biomedical device development, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Andrew is founder of Novocor Medical Systems and founding board member of Augment Medical, both University Spinouts from student developed technology. He is founder and former executive director of the NC Medical Device Organization, which served as the foundation for ibiliti, an NC Biotechnology Center of Innovation. Andrew was co-founder and VP Business Development for Gilero, an RTP based product development service company specializing in high-volume biomedical devices. Andrew worked for Alaris Medical Systems (now CareFusion) as a design engineer and project manager. His education includes a BS in Physics, English Literature, and Secondary Education from UNC Charlotte; an MS in Biomedical Engineering from UNC Chapel Hill’s Medical School; and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the UNC/NCSU Joint Department.
