Bill Braunlin, Ph.DChief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder
Dr. Bill Braunlin, a native of West Virginia, received his Ph.D. in polymer physical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and pursued a successful academic career, including a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Lund, Sweden, and culminating in a tenured faculty position in the Chemistry Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Following his academic career, he established himself as a notable industrial researcher and leader, working as a Principal Scientist at Genzyme, Director of Biophysics research at Transgenomic, and CSO of a startup medical device company, Rational Affinity Devices, LLC. Dr. Braunlin has worked with leading researchers both in the U.S. and abroad, pioneering studies of nucleic acid conformation and recognition, and continues to be involved actively in the research community, both in the US and abroad. He has an extensive track record of government funding for both research and small business grants, and has served on a number of NIH study sections and NSF panels, as well as foreign panels. His current passion is on the translation of cutting-edge technologies from the university to the marketplace, and he is pursuing this passion through his work as Research Professor at Rutgers University, through his technology identification and analysis work at IP Shakti, LLC and through his work with several startup companies.
